A fresh start and needing a fresh start

Thank you for all your comments on my LHN finish! I really love working on these sweet designs.I needed to pick something else up to do at the cottage over the weekend...where there is no magnifier...and I decided on Blackbird Designs Sunflower House. I have loved this one for along time but since it was 'retired', I was so thrilled to find it for sale by another stitcher. The pattern came with this gorgeous blue linen. I'm not sure if its the called for fabric which is called Friendship Blue, but it looks wonderful with the floss colours.
I didn't get too much done however, as a book grabbed all my attention. Its not too often that I start a book that I just can't put down. This one was called The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. I only started reading it on Thursday night, and finished it Sunday morning. What an amazing story! Luckily I have another one book by the same author ~ A Thousand Splendid Suns ~ waiting for me at home to start.

And on to Love with a Capital L~
I really think I need to put this away for a little while. I have made so many little mistakes with this piece recently, including the large motif on the lower left, well not such a little mistake maybe since the entire thing is about 4 rows too high. And of course I didn't discover this until it was pretty much finished. Counting threads on 40 ct fabric really seems to unravel me, uh no pun intended there. So I haven't decided yet if its time to frog, I started working on the next row of flowers and thought I would better be able to tell if I could fit the wording in without too much trouble, until another mistake became apparent last night. Yup, I definitely think its time to work on something else for a while and look at Love again with fresh eyes.

Thanks for visiting!

Love your Sunflower House start, it's so cheerful!

Sorry you're having issues with Love...perhaps a break would be a good idea.

Great start on Sunflower house - it looks good against the blue fabric.

Sorry to hear of your problems with Love - 40ct can be a beast at times!

Your stitching looks wonderful to me. I love that blue linen!

You're the third of fourth person I've heard raving about The Kite Runner. I will have to have a look...

Wendy,

The sampler is looking GORGEOUS! I love the motif under "Rejoices in the truth" So pretty!!

That blue fabric is a breath of summertime. What a pretty start you've made on the Sunflower House. Would you like to trade the chart when you're done?

Hi Wendy,

I love your work and all of your writing. The sunflower house is what attracted me to your blog. I wrote a book called Sunflower Houses in 1991 and am always fascinated when I see those words on line. Our home is called "Sunflower House."

Keep on stitching! Now all you have to do is find time to plant a real Sunflower House!!

Blessings to you,

When I have a piece that keeps giving me fits, first I resist the urge to just chuck it into a mud puddle and then drive over it repeatedly...then I carefully fold it up and put it away for awhile. Coming back with fresh eyes and a fresh mind works wonders!

Cute Sunflower House! Love the colors...of both the fabric and the floss!

OH Wendy!!
Once I've finished all my exchange pieces, I'm going to start the same Sunflower House by BBD, too!!!
Wow, I'm so happy that I have a friend who is going to work on the same pattern!
But I will be able to start it maybe in July or August, though...
It's a very beautiful design, isn't it!
I'm really looking forward to starting it!!
Also I'm very looking forward to seeing your progress!!

I love that BBD pattern too, and the linen is lovely - great start! It does sound like you need a little break from Love - you have been going non-stop on it, it does look maginificent!

I love your start on Sunflower House, those threads do look good on that linen. Your "Love" piece is so pretty. Sorry about the mistake :(

I am stitching Sunflower house now too, and I just love the chart and colors! Your fabric is so nice, mine is much lighter.

I don't know how you've been able to get so far so fast on the sampler, it's HUGE and on 40 count? You are amazing :D A break, I think, is okay.

What a great start. I love the design.

Great start! I so hate to frog or try to compensate for an error (while knowing deep down that I really ought to be frogging) that I'll put something like that away for a long, long time.

Hi Wendy,
The colours are amazing together, it just pops!

Kite Runner was one of my favourite books and the same thing happened. I read it solid for two days. A Thousand Spendid Suns, his next book, is almost as good, but I was able to do other things while reading it :)

Where do I begin? I love the work you're doing on the "Love" sampler, and the blue fabric with all those beautiful yellows for the "Sunflower House" is just too perfect! I can't wait to see more!!

Don't despair about your 'Love with a Capital L'. I gridded mine & that made it so much easier. It was worth the time.

Your earlier finish of Watermelon looked great, I love those thread packs. Sorry Love is causing such problems. With all the little parts being off so often maybe it is signaling you to take a break for a bit. Your new start of Sunflower is wonderful. Such bright cheery colors, that will be a fun stitch.
