Paradigm Lost and Love

I spent last night working on Paradigm Lost...still working on this huge motif that I've been at the past month. I'm thinking this one will be in the works for months at the rate I'm going. I have to admit its a little discouraging to spend a good part of the evening stitching and see such a little bit get accomplished. Well I guess it doesn't help that I had to frog the end section, not once, but twice! I should comment on the amazing recuperative power of Gloriana silk - its awesome. Most threads would have crumbled away after being pulled out bit by bit but not this stuff. Its like the Energizer bunny, its just keeps going and going, no matter how many times I pulled it back out and re-used it.

I've been asking Carrie to pick a wedding sampler for me to stitch for her and JF and she settled on a gorgeous one, and it really is one that suits them so very well. Its Papillon Creations Love with a Capital L:

Beautiful! But .... humongous! I almost fell over when I saw the stitch count ~ 260 x 434! And I'm hoping to have this done and framed for the wedding in September .... of this year! I guess if I could put in some stitching all-nighters, for a month or two LOL.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Paradigm is looking lovely Wendy. Hang in there. There are lots of interesting small things to stitch once you get through the big suckers. LOL.
That Wedding Sampler is just beautiful - September you say - next year I hope.

Wendy,

The sampler that Carrie chose is really beautiful. I can't wait to see your talented hand bring it to life :) Your Paradigm is going to be stunning - it already is.

I know what you mean about Gloriana. It's my favorite and no one can convince me that there is a better silk out there. I'm currently using it on the Quaker Christmas Stocking that I'm doing by The Workbasket.

I hope you have a wonderful stitch filled weekend.

You are making progress on P.L. though, and that is what matters! I love the colors you are using :)

This is why I don’t let people choose patterns, because they always choose the big huge ones LOL! That is just beautiful though! :O

Hi Wendy! I'm stitching Love with a Capital L as my wedding sampler and I wanted to say that it does stitch up quite quickly. I'm stitching mine 1 over 1 on 25ct fabric using Vikki Clayton silks and it's a beautiful design. You can see progress pics if you click on the WIP pic on my blog.

The design does come with instructions for personalizing it into a wedding sampler but it's done by putting the wedding info inside some of the medallions and borders on the design. I've modified ours so that I'll include our names and wedding date at the bottom of the sampler and just extend the border.

Have fun with your new project!

Wow, what a beautiful sampler! Carrie sure has good taste. I'll look forward to watching this one come to life.
PL looks fantastic! I love the colour of the silks. I haven't touched CdC now for two weeks. Too much on my plate lately.

PL looks great! Love the colors!
The wedding sampler is big, but like you said if you work on it every other day yu'll finish it on time :)

Oooooorrr ... you could pass it around to family and friends and have them all work on it for the happy couple. It'd be kinda fun that way, wouldn't it?! Everyone could have a hand in it ... you could even have the kids sit with a parent/grandparent and put in a stitch or two.

I'm only suggesting this because it was done for someone in my family, with a quilt, when I was young and I remember being so proud of helping. Everyone put their names on it as well, which wouldn't exactly work with this but still ... cute idea, right?!

Feel free to ignore me. :o)

Oh my goodness. When my daughter gets married, I'm going to limit the size she can choose... like 42 X 42 or so LOL (otherwise I'd have to start now to finish in 10 years) You can do it, though!

Love those colours in PL, it's looking great.

Good luck with the sampler for your daughter, I sure wish I could stitch 24/7.

I struggled with that PL motif for about 8 weeks before I finally finished it - you'll get there eventually! I love the threads you've chosen, they are so gorgeous!

I love the sampler that Carrie has chosen - we had this as a reading at our wedding, it's really beautiful. But wow, what a big project!

O boy, that is HUGE!! It is my experience that letters do stitch up fast though... if that's any help... :o)
I'm sure you can do it and it will be a beautiful and precious heirloom for Carrie and JF!!

PL is coming along beautifully, Wendy... :-) And I totally agree with you about Gloriana Silks... They are Devine!!! :-)

I love Carrie's choice of a Wedding Sampler... I had originally chosen that one to stitch for Brandy's Wedding Sampler, as she loves this verse and has it on her Wedding Programs. However, when I showed it to her, she decided she wanted this one for an Anniversary gift... For her Wedding Sampler she chose The Wedding by L&L... Needless to say I'm in a panic just thinnking about trying to have it finished and framed by June! lol I guess we'll both have quite a few long night stitch-a-thons between now and the wedding dates! ;-)

Thanks for thinking of me Hun... your Hugs and sweet and thoughtful words mean so much to me!

All nighters.??? I can't do that anymore.
Paradigm is very nice. It is a big motif. I did that one in stages.

Wow Wendy, that's going to be one heck of a project to tackle and finish by September of this year!! It is gorgeous though, and it'll probably be fun to stitch, with all the fancy lettering and such. Does your daughter want it stitched using the same colours as the model??

Your house for the neighbourhood RR is really looking great, and the design of the house is a nice contrast to the other two. I look forward to seeing it with the garden stitch around it.

Hang in there with Paradigm Wendy. It's going to be well worth the effort. I love seeing everyone's piece growing, and how it looks in all the different colours.

Cheers

Wendy, Paradigm is really very beautiful. I love Glorianas. Wonderful silks to work with in needlepoint projects, as well! They have a great sheen to them. Oh, boy, that Wedding Sampler is going to take you some time, you better believe it! But, you're an amazing stitcher, Wendy!!! Hugs, Deb
