And J is for Jello

I just finished mixing up my third batch of jello - green this time, ugh! All I'm allowed to eat today is jello and broth, in preparation for surgery tomorrow. So I'll be in the hospital for the next 5-7 days and will be back on-line next week. Hopefully I'll have some needlework updates to share. It doesn't look like I've gotten to much stitching done the past week. So all I really have to share is my latest progress on Prairie Schooler's E is for Embroidery.

Have a great week everyone!

Blackbird SAL

Its time for the next section in our Blackbird SAL! I didn't get started with most everyone else on August 1st, due to the fact that I was still waiting for my GAST and WDW threads to arrive and being the centre-starter than I am, the house was the first section for me. Luckily when Carrie and JF came on August 5th, the mail had arrived and they had brought it with them.

So here it is, looking rather sad and lonely, my little house! I think the next section will be the upper left hand corner.

I treated myself to a quilting magazine while I was away - American Patchwork & Quilting - and I was amazed to discover an article on the Blackbird Designs ladies in the magazine! And the pattern for a fantastic looking quilt by them also!! I'm going to have to make this one this fall - I love it! And it gives me an excuse for some fabric shopping.

Holiday stitching

Some catching up time - I got to start my Carriage House Samplings alphabet series. Not as much done as I would have liked, especially since I never got to change colours! I'm outlining the boxes for the alphabets so far with 3371, not black, as I really don't like working with black and I think 3371 is a much softer shade. Besides I think I've already used up about 10 skeins of this in the Prairie Schooler blocks.

And whenever my eyes got too tired to manage the 40 ct fabric for the CHS alphabet, I switched over to my PS alphabet on 28 ct Jubilee. I was going great on E is for Embroidery, except, yes, I got really tired of using the same ol' 3371. What was I just saying?

And finally some stitching on Houses of Hawk Run Hollow! Not much to see at the moment but a little progress nevertheless.

For Tina: I'm using 40 ct Newcastle Cream linen for the CHS alphabet, and I'm hoping to use GAST threads as much as I can (and where I think it will show ;-).

For HoHRH, I'm using plain ol' DMC. I would have loved to use some NPI silks or even consider the Vicki Clayton silks, but by the time I bought the pattern, and then the recommended fabric, my wallet was empty! The fabric is 40 ct Pearled Barley by Lakeside Linens.

Questions are great - it means somebody's reading my blog!

Home!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

We're back, after a fantastic 2 weeks away. Great weather, lots of company, lots of stitching, scrapbooking, and nice cool drinks ;-)

But its good to be home again.

Hubby took this great pic this morning, early while the mist was still on the water. He has a great new camera, the Canon Rebel, to play with and yes, for me to play with also...although he can't see the fascination in taking pictures of my stuff to put on my blog.

We took a final boat ride last night to see the sunset on the water. Here's a couple of pictures of us enjoying ourselves on our last night.

Now to tackle some of the laundry that is waiting. I'll post some updates of my stitching tomorrow.
