My Round Robin returns!

We had our final Guild meeting for the year on Wednesday night and it was the return of the Round Robins! We started exchanging these in September so in all there were 10 exchanges, once per month. The lay-out was Christmas trees, but always being one to be different, I didn't go with a traditional theme and chose Celtic knots, to follow in my Irish/Scottish heritage. And because I love the meaning of what Celtic knotwork represents, that of neverending life.

I sent along a variety of gold and green threads and fibres along with my fabric and stitched the top element of the tree. And look at the gorgeous tree that I got in return. Its breathtaking!!! Several of the ladies stitched over-1 for their sections and there was a lot of Petite Treasure braid used, I only wished all the sparkly showed up better in the picture. What a wonderful keepsake I have!

Today is official moving day for Kristy! This afternoon we have borrowed a friend's truck to move her boxes, bed and dresser. And our first official day as a foster home now that we have our official approval, signed, sealed and delivered. Tomorrow is a family get-together with my clan, poor girl, we throwing her right into the frying pan!

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Guild present

It is my needlework guild's 10th anniversary this month. Although I missed the actual party date, due to the nasty cold a couple weeks ago, look at the cool gift baggie of goodies I got ~ some John James needles, GAST thread, beads, charms, a small piece of evenweave, and best of all ~ a gorgeous pair of scissors!

Last night we started hemstitching for a needlebook. And I have to say most of us were definitely 'all thumbs'. Trying to turn 1/4" hem twice seemed almost impossible. I didn't get too much accomplished before I packed up to come home. But I am determined with this little project, I am not going to set it aside and then forget entirely what I'm supposed to do with it. I love the look of hemstitching and I want to get this one finished!

And speaking of procrastinating, I started to make a list of all the things I need to set up appointments for ~ doctor, dentist, optometrist, naturopath, massage therapist...... and it almost seems overwhelming. And then I really needed to give myself a good shake. With our extended health care plan, all these things are covered! I don't need to pay a single dime for any of these visits for any of us. So what on earth am I complaining about? So I'm determined this morning to start making those calls and start getting these things arranged, even one a week, its certainly doable. Funny, I have to pay the hairdresser and yet I don't avoid those appointments? So look out Nick, I'm going to keep you and I busy for a while. Hubby can take care of his own appointments since he usually cancels anything I arrange for him. Harumph!

Neighbourhood RR

I put the last few stitches into Anita's RR last night and here is my offering. Its a Homespun Elegance design called Summer House Sampler. I accommodated it slightly and it fit in perfectly with the 70x50 block.

And after that I was in a baking mood, so I made up a batch of Everything But the Kitchen Sink cookies. These cookies have, well, a little bit of everything in them: chocolate chips, raisins, walnuts, coconut, oats, and so on. 6 dozen were made and I think there are still 3 dozen today. I have a hungry family!

Today is bright and sunny but cold and Nick has plans for snowboarding today, his second time this week. Luckily the ski hills are only a 20 minute drive away but I am hoping to get there with the camera to take some pictures of him. Its such a pretty area and the only place that is completely snow-covered. Although our backyard was looking nice until the dogs hit it this morning.

Oh and one more pic:

These are one we made at the guild meeting on Wednesday night - the first one is a scissor point fob ~ the blue thingy is what will go on the pointed ends of scissors and the lobster claw clips on the scissor handles. The smaller one is a needle threader fob. I think I'll look for a few larger, prettier beads to put on and redo the top one, especially since I messed up a little with the end. Cute things though and its nice to play around with beads too.
