Crocheting

I think my playing around recently with the knitted and crocheted blocks for the Cancer Quilts, has put the crochet bug into me! Look what I've been up to the last couple of days.
My niece is expecting a baby next month ~ her due date is February 29th ~ and I was at a lost as to what to make for her. I looked at so many baby samplers recently and nothing was appealing to me. So on a Saturday shopping trip with Carrie, she convinced me to make a baby blanket instead. I love the yarn, its called Baby Softee and its gorgeous and light feeling. I picked out the variegated colour first and then went with the blue and mauve. Although my strong feeling is that Sandra is having a boy...you can never until he/she arrives.

Its a dull day here and snowing quite a bit now. I guess winter has decided that its back again and no more comfy temp's for us. I don't mind the snow but its just so dark....
Of course fresh snow always makes the dogs a little frisky. I had a hard time getting Kelsey to stay still long enough to get a picture of her. I have about 8 blurry ones and only one where I was able to get a clear shot of her.

Hi Wendy,

Kelsey looks a little woe begotten standing there in the snow. She's a sweet looking dog.

You've certainly got your hands, and needles (hook) full with all those knitted and crocheted squares to make into blankets. My Mom and the ladies at the residence where she lives make squares for blankets too. Theirs go to our local hospital.

It's a great idea, and doing something like that while waiting for a medical appointment gives people a feeling that they're accomplishing something while they wait.

Your Carriage House Alphabet is coming along nicely. I like the elephant in the E square. You're wise to use DMC threads when you can, and the variegated when it'll show up best.

I really like Home of a Needleworker too. LHN designs are so much fun to stitch, and seem to suit a lot of us and our tastes.

I think that your niece will love the baby blanket that you're making for her. Love the blue and pink colour choices that you've made for this project.

Cheers!!

Your crocheted squares are so pretty - love that variegated yarn, the colors are pretty. Your pup looks a bit cold there...

Your squares look great. I haven't tried to crochet in years, but recently I picked up knitting again. All your lovely squares make me think I should give crochet a go too. Kelsey looks quite happy. Jazmine has also been enjoying the snow and bouncing around in it. I on the other hand really wish winter would be over and done with.
